ESVBA Opens FTTH Broadband Service for Atlantic, Wattsville, and Horntown Locations

EXMORE, VA. (March 27, 2018) — The Eastern Shore of Virginia Broadband Authority (ESVBA) has opened Fiber to the Home service in the communities of Atlantic, Wattsville and Horntown, VA. These three communities are the latest locations to begin receiving high-speed fiber optic connectivity services since the ESVBA announced of a community-wide Fiber to the Home (FTTH) expansion in December 2017.

“We’re extremely excited about being able to offer Fiber to the Home (FTTH) to these areas of Accomack County.  Faster more reliable, fiber-based Internet services will enable residents to access and enjoy a wide variety of modern conveniences including telework, telehealth, and streaming entertainment,” Executive Director Robert Bridgham said.

The specific residences now eligible to participate in the program are located along the current ESVBA fiber routes in:

    Atlantic (see Map #9 below)

Atlantic Rd from the intersection of Atlantic Rd and Chincoteague Rd down to the intersection of Atlantic Rd and Mt. Wharton Rd.  On Greta Rd between Atlantic Rd and Cutler Lane.

    Wattsville/Horntown (see Map #10 below)

Fleming Rd from Sign Post Rd down to Chincoteague Rd.  On Chincoteague Rd from Fleming Rd to Atlantic Rd. On Justice Rd between Fleming Rd and Trails End Dr.

Great news! I live 1000′ from Atlantic road in Watts Bay Estates, will FTTH be possible for me with these new service locations? My entire neighborhood would most likely be excited about the possibility of having FTTH.

A few years ago fiber optic cable was run down upshur neck road almost to virginia landing camp ground. Is there a chance that service will come to the residents at virginia landing?

        Mr. Marguglio:

The ESVBA has built fiber to Quinby and up to Wachapreague but not down Upsure Neck yet. We are working on additional funding sources to expand our footprint including down to Upsure Neck. We will update our website as we progress this initiative.

        Ms. Hutchins,

The ESVBA has fiber to the substation right next to Hilltop Drive. Please feel free to contact our sales staff to discuss a quote for service.
