    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EXMORE, VA. (March. 23, 2020) – With schools closed and COVID-19 related telework protocols in place for more professionals than ever before, many families across our region are relying heavily on high-speed internet for news, information, healthcare, remote working and entertainment. However, not every home or family has equal access to broadband connectivity and all that it can provide. To help residents across our region, The Eastern Shore of Virginia Broadband Authority (ESVBA) has made 13 free wi-fi hotspot locations available for public access. The wireless service is provided free of charge but subject to the Terms and Conditions of an Acceptable Usage Policy.

Residents are encouraged to leverage these access points while maintaining the recommended social distancing protocols provided by public health officials.

“While the ESVBA’s 13 free wi-fi hotspot locations are not new, they’ve never been more important,” ESVBA’s Executive Director Robert Bridgham said. “Our mission has always been to provide as much broadband access as possible across our region. Until every home and business has affordable high-speed access, we will continue to look for ways to increase equity as much and as fast as possible.”
